Pole dancing studio not allowed to operate

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

According to CNN (which is always good for breaking news reports like how pole dancing classes can "strip off pounds"), a woman who is trying to open a dance studio to teach both pole dancing classes and belly dancing classes is not being allowed to operate her business so far. This is a dance studio; not a stripo club or a bar. Check out the video here:

I forgot how ridiculous this song was.

MSP Quote of the Day… a la Henry Rollins

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Somewhere someone is thinking of you. Someone is calling you an angel. This person is using celestial colors to paint your image. Someone is making you into a vision so beautiful that it can only live in the mind. Someone is thinking of the way your breath escapes your lips when you are touched. How your eyes close and your jaw tightens with concentration as you give pleasure a home. These thoughts are saving a life somewhere right now.
- Henry Rollins

Sometimes you may think that you are the only one wondering about another person. Maybe someone is thinking of you, too.

Canadian porn channel, eh?

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Apparently the way to get a Canadian adult channel going is to promise naked Canadians. At least according to the article, from which I quote:

An Edmonton-based adult film producer has won federal government approval for a new pornography channel with an unusual twist: half of the content is to be Canadian.

Shaun Donnelly’s Real Productions received the OK from the CRTC on Wednesday to operate a digital cable channel - called Northern Peaks - that is billed as "Canada’s first adult video channel programming significant Canadian content."

"There seems to be quite a market for Canadian adult content right now and of course there isn’t a lot of supply," Donnelly said Thursday from the set of a show he is shooting for Playboy TV outside of Edmonton.

NBC apologizes for not mentioning that Olympic diver’s same-sex partner was in the stands

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Although NBC regularly mentioned or pointed out the partners/husbands/wives/boyfriends/girlfriends of Olympic athletes (and in one instance, described a love triangle among European swimmers), they failed to point out the same-sex partner of a gold medal winning diver Matthew Mitcham. Though at first NBC defended its choice, it seems that they have since issued an apology.

Text messages about sperm and sex

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Note: this is a real text message exchange that I took a screen shot of on my phone. This is what life is often like when your career centers around sexuality - friends text you to ask about sperm.

MSP Quote of the Day: “Down there never looked so… cuddly”

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

It harkens back to when I was on the Tyra Banks Show last Fall. From the Mom Logic blog:

"Sex researcher Dr. Debby Herbenick pops by Tyra today to chat about women and their "hoo-ha." And quite frankly, "down there" never looked, well, so cuddly. Tyra begins the hour by giving her audience a test to see if they can name all the parts of the vagina with unbelievable results: 89 percent of her audience filled out the anatomical chart incorrectly. In related news, 89 percent of our husbands don’t know what to do with those parts anyway. "

Visit her blog here.

That’s right - Debby Herbenick for president!!!

Ask me sex questions!!

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

I went to my first Atlanta Falcons game this past weekend and on the way out, we spotted this chair, and of course I couldn’t resist climbing on top for a photo. So yes, ask me your sex questions!!! As you can tell from MSP as well as my work with Kinsey Confidential, Men’s Health, Time Out Chicago, and Velocity, I’m happy to respond.

Here I am earlier in the evening meeting Arthur Blank (and his wife, but she’s not pictured).

Somewhere, I have a photo with Freddie the Falcon (mascot) too…. it was a fun night!
