About Dr. Debby Herbenick
Dr. Debby Herbenick is Associate Director of the Center for Sexual Health Promotion in the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at Indiana University (IU) where she is a sexuality researcher and educator. She is also a sexual health educator at The Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction where she writes (and hosts podcasts of) the Kinsey Confidential column and coordinates educational programming. She has a PhD in Health Behavior from IU, a Master’s degree in Public Health Education (also from IU) and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. By arrangement, Debby works with individuals and couples on their personal sexuality and relationship concerns.
Debby has taught undergraduate and graduate level human sexuality classes to more than a thousand students and lectures on a range of topics including sexual development, sexual enhancement, women’s sexual function and adult sex education. In addition, Debby writes regular sex columns for Men’s Health magazine, Time Out Chicago, and Velocity and has also written for Glamour magazine. In addition, she has provided expert opinion about sex and relationships for writers and producers of print and broadcast media including the San Francisco Chronicle, New York Times, LA Times, Marie Clare, Men’s Fitness, Women’s Health, Glamour, SELF, The Guardian, Discovery Health, Sirius Sattelite Radio, The Today Show and The Tyra Banks Show.
