Antique vibrator photos!!!!

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

A friend just sent me pictures (from one of his friends) of antique vibrators that belonged to, I think, the other friend’s grandmother… they are fascinating and I will post them soon. In the mean time, view others’ antique vibrator photos here.

It turns out that batteries aren’t just for sex toys

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Last night the heat stopped working. Talk about cold! This morning when I sat down to do some work and wait for the repairman to come by, I noticed it had dropped to 57 degrees in the house. Brrrrrrrrrrr! Here is a snippet from our conversation:

Him: These batter-powered control panels are always a nuisance. You know, it might just be the batteries. I don’t know that I have any extras in my truck, though.
Me: Oh, I have some!
Him: You do? AA?
Me: Yes, definitely! Um… in my, uh, toolbox. Be right back. (I run upstairs, rummage through a small box of sex toys, find a package of  brand new AA batteries and return with them).
Him: (replaces batteries… heat turns back on) Yep, that did it.

Moral of the story: sex toys save the day (again).

Second moral of the story: While sex toys may heat things up for the moment, batteries can heat things up all day long. Thank you, batteries.

Lubricants and toys… in a Walmart/CVS/Walgreens near you?

Friday, February 15th, 2008

That’s right - lubricants and sex toys personal massagers are becoming increasingly mainstream. For several years they have been available through a variety of web sites such as Amazon and Drugstore and now through increasingly mainstream stores such as Walmart, CVS, Target and Walgreens. Not all of these types of shops carry the "personal massagers" but some do and it is likely that the US will eventually catch up with some other developed countries that already offer vibratring sex toys in large retail chains. Several years ago, a student of mine studied abroad in Japan and showed me digital photos he took in a Target-like shop that had regular old items not that far from Rabbit-like vibrators.

Thanks to reader Michael for passing on the link to this must-read Newsweek article about the mainstreaming of lubricants, toys and other sexual health products.

MSP Valentine’s Gift Idea #14: Weekender Set

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

If you have never tried the Kama Sutra line of products, you may seriously be missing out. They are very high quality and available at many local and online sex boutiques such as Early to Bed. As you know, the Kama Sutra is about the art of love and lovemaking - not just "sex" the way we Westerners sometimes think of it. As such, Kama Sutra brand products tend to feature things like feathers, massage oils, and super tasty body powders that you can lick off of your partner’s body. Check it out here.

By the way, that is my final V-Day gift idea for the season. As V-Day falls on the 14th, I was only going for 14.

MSP Valentine’s Gift Idea #4: Come Together

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

Come Together: the name says it all. Not that simultaneous orgasms are needed, mind you - rather than it feels good to pleasure each other, or to pleasure each of your own selves in the company of your beloved.

This kit from Babeland includes a massage oil spray (genius!), the Laya spot vibrator on which women can lay down for a no-hands pleasuring experience (though you can hold it with one’s hands too, if preferred), a c-ring for guys, toy cleanser (gotta keep toys clean), condoms, batteries (for the sake of vibration) and little packs of lube. With these toys - and a little mood-setting and open, comfortable conversation - I can imagine quite a bit of romance going down.

Valentine’s Gift Idea #1: Tastefully Yours

Monday, February 4th, 2008

And so the countdown begins - what to get your sweetie for Valentine’s Day? Of course, not all gifts have to be store bought. You can make your own gifts or simply spend a quiet evening together. Then again, some store-bought gifts can encourage non-store-bought time together. Enter toys.

Introducing Babeland’s Tastefully Yours kit - a great Valentine’s Day (or everday) choice for couples who enjoy playing with the sensuousness of tastes during sexual play. Four body paints (with a cute little paint brush) are included so that you can softly and gently paint your beloved (or belusted) and lick away. There are even two body paint pens, which I had not seen before, in chocolate and strawberry. Both are unexpectedly good - being a chocolate lover myself, I was drawn to the rich chocolate taste. Because it comes in a pen, the lines that are drawn are pretty thin so the chocolate won’t get too messy on your partner - it would take a lot of effort to make a mess, in my opinion. Anne Hooper’s Great Sex Games book comes in this kit too - this is a classic book that many couples have used to enhance their exploration. A little vibration is also included in this pack, as is Good Head, a lickable gel that some feel helps to slightly numb sensation in their mouths and throats to ease the gag reflex. Flavored lube and condoms are packed in this kit too, as is Babeland’s own yummy Babegloss lip gloss and a super good lickable oil in case you’re into sensuous touching and massage (and who isn’t?). Truly, this is a kit that can help you and your partner to reconnect around touch, play and connection. Learn more about it on Babeland’s web site.

Ooh! Sex toy packages have arrived.

Monday, February 4th, 2008

Two boxes have arrived from Babeland - one is Come Together and the other is Tastefully Yours, their extra sexy Valentine’s Day boxes of goodies (Babeland is famous for their amazing "kits" full of toys, lubricants, condoms and/or flavored paints and such). I’ll be posting more details about each kit soon - in the mean time, check out Babeland’s site for more goodies and start planning for Valentine’s Day.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Holiday Gift Suggestion #3

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

This one is a particularly good stocking stuffer:

3. Seriously, folks - not only does Good Clean Love have a great name, but it is one of my new favorite lubricants in the universe. It feels very natural, is not too sticky and is the perfect improvement upon my former-favorite-but-now-no-longer-in-existence, Sensua Organics.
