This is Wendy. I  met her this weekend at the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS) meeting in Indianapolis. Wendy is my one of my new favorite lubricant manufacturers. She makes Good Clean Love which is a lubricant much like Sensua Organics lube (the latter is apparently now out of business - which means I feel very lucky to have a stockpile of it). But I also feel lucky to have met Wendy and learned about how she has worked tirelessly to bring the women and men of this world a product that is free of common irritants found in many mainstream lubes. She also sells oils that smell fantastic and feel very good on the skin. Wendy’s company slogan is "Making Love Sustainable" and she means that not only in terms of her choice of ingredients, but she also has very interesting ideas about how we need to talk about sexuality as one of the pieces of sustaining long term relationshios.

Please, please check out her web site and learn more about Good Clean Love - I’m sure you’ll hear me write about her products frequently from here on out.

For several years running, Sensua Organics lubricant (now sold as Sympathical Formulas lubricant) has been my favorite lube - specifcally, the unscented and unflavored kind. The consistency is smooth and only slightly slippery. It is not at all sticky or tacky. And it includes organic ingredients and none of the ingredients like propylene glycol that I am generally not a fan of in lubricants as it’s associated with irritation in some women and men.

What are some of the benefits of using a personal lubricant during sex?

1. Comfort - like if you’re having a quickie and don’t have time get naturally lubed up, or if you’re trying to fit something quite big into something quite small. (why do you think they use lube during gyn exams? only they use tons so it gets goopy)
2. Pleasure - it’s yummy goodness when things get slightly slippery between two people.
3. Reduce the risk of tearing - which both makes for comfort and for perhaps a slightly less risk of infection if exposed to a STI.
4. If you are using condoms, then adding lubricant to the outside of the condom may reduce the risk of condom breakage.

But finding the right lube can be difficult. Some are irritating. Some just feel too sticky. Which is why I love Sensua Organics/Sympathical Formulas so much.

Here is a limerick I just wrote about Sensua Organics. I just did this in three minutes so seriously, folks, don’t knock it.

There once was a lube called Sensua Organics.
It was not as slippery as things used by mechanics.
When used sparingly down there
It makes for more fun and fewer tears
If they ever stop making it, I’ll be thrown into a panic
