Warning: NOT AT ALL ACCURATE
Friday, February 15th, 2008But really, really funny.
But really, really funny.

That’s right - lubricants and sex toys personal massagers are becoming increasingly mainstream. For several years they have been available through a variety of web sites such as Amazon and Drugstore and now through increasingly mainstream stores such as Walmart, CVS, Target and Walgreens. Not all of these types of shops carry the "personal massagers" but some do and it is likely that the US will eventually catch up with some other developed countries that already offer vibratring sex toys in large retail chains. Several years ago, a student of mine studied abroad in Japan and showed me digital photos he took in a Target-like shop that had regular old items not that far from Rabbit-like vibrators.
Thanks to reader Michael for passing on the link to this must-read Newsweek article about the mainstreaming of lubricants, toys and other sexual health products.

A federal appeals court has apparently overturned a Texas statute which outlawed the sale of sex toys (but allowed phallic and other similar "educational devices"). Read a related NY Times article here and a FOX News article here.
