Q&A: Should Women Pee Before Sex?

While serving as a guest expert for NYC Moms Like Me, I was asked by a member if women should pee before they have sex. My response:
“I think women should do what feels best for them in terms of peeing before sex. Some women prefer to pee before sex because it helps them to relax; they’re not distracted by feeling as though they need to get up to go to the bathroom. Other women have told me that they prefer to have sex on a full bladder because it enhances their sensation. The bladder, vagina and clitoris are all tightly close to each other with important linkages so it makes sense that, for some women, these feelings only add to their pleasure.”

I was always told that urinating prior to vaginal intercourse would be better so you don't risk getting a UTI. I thought urinating on a full bladder increased the risk of getting a UTI? Was I misinformed?

Actually, you will help avoid a UTI by urinating after you have sex and the sooner the better. It flushes out any bacteria that may have been driven up into the urethra during vigorous sex. Oral sex is notorious for causing UTIs if the bacteria that are normally found in the mouth make their way into the urethra and this applys to both men and women.
Experts also tell us that anal sex can easily result in a dangerous infection of the urethra and or bladder if precautions are not taken. Men should urinate and thoroughly clean themselves immediately after performing anal sex unless they have used a condom.
Nothing should ever be allowed to penetrate the vagina or mouth after anal sex unless thoroughly washed. Bacteria normally found in the lower digestive tract can cause really bad infections if they are introduced into places not prepared to deal with them, e.g. the mouth or vagina.

Peeing helps prevent UTIs AFTER sex. Holding your pee too long can cause a UTI to get worse or lead to a kidney infection. I learned this the hard way. kidney infections are horrible

Ok, before and after sounds good to me.
If you are a female ejaculator then urinate before hand so that you can relax fully. If you're exploring G-spot orgasm then it's a good idea too, as you may ejaculate. It just clears the mind of any worry so you don't have to think about it during intense yoni play.
