Remember the pencil sharpener?

Did you used to go to the pencil sharpener whenever you saw your first grade crush go to sharpen his or her pencil? I did… please tell me that it wasn’t just me. Ah, the memories… husky pencils, wall-bolted pencil sharpeners, note passing – does anyone else still get butterflies in their stomach?

Yes, Bernadette! The pencil sharpener won out for you.

Thanks for bringing up the note passing, Chris. I can recall quite a lot of that myself. I think when couples stay together a long time, they have moments where that initial excitement comes back - but of course it isn't ever the same as discovering it for the very first time - these strange feelings of attraction, interest, or literally feeling sick to one's stomach when someone they like looks at them. (I have always been one of those people who just CANNOT eat in response to certain things, learning that I'm liked or learning that I'm NOT liked by someone I like, are two of them).

Every time you bring up one of these Peanut's cards, something always clicks in my head. I remember losing 5 minutes of recess in 4th grade because I was spending too much time up at the "Extra Credit" bin. Apparently, the teacher realized that I just wanted "extra credit" with a crush who sat nearby. Just a smile would do. I didn't say anything, I was too shy. But then I shed a tear when the teacher told me to sit down. Ah, young love.

One more story....I actually "went out" with a girl in 6th grade completly via the note. We passed notes in every class....in the hallway.....on the bus......but we never actually went out anywhere. It lasted a month or so....but when I received a note, I couldn't wait to read it. Today, it would probably be email or texts.

Do we ever get to do this all again???? I don't wanna grow up :)

I definitely did. AND...I am going to marry him in about 8 months!
