INTERVIEW: Why Women Under 30 Don’t Want Sex

Katie Hintz-Zambrano recently interviewed me for a piece on AOL’s Lemondrop about desire, and distress about low desire, among women between ages 18 and 30. Of course, desire is complex and unfortunately it’s not often represented in a nuanced way in mainstream media. There are a plethora of reasons why women and men may not feel in the mood – and sometimes low desire is adaptive and not a problem in people’s lives. We all experience sex a bit differently from each other and it can change from relationship to relationship and even from day to day.

The low desire among females issue shows up in sex blogging communities a lot. They want to want to have sexual desire and ask for advice. I was reading “Reclaiming Desire: 4 Keys to Finding Your Lost Libido” whice mentioned that even if we have little desire for sex, this can still have a very negative affect on our life because basic human nature ties a lot of our 'purpose' in our sexuality.

And then I read parts of Nancy Friday's My Secret Garden which could probably boost anyones sexual desire through the roof. :)
