Sex and the City movie

I never set out to be anything close to a  "Carrie Bradshaw" although I get compared to her a lot. I still don’t think of myself in that way, considering my path is a bit different. Yes, I write about sex, but I come at it from the angle of not only a woman interested in love/sex/dating but also from the side of science, research and education. And though I enjoy a nice pair of heels, you’re more likely to find me in flip flops. Even so, I was often struck by the poignancy of many a Sex and the City episode, and I’m glad that the movie is out this week. I’m seeing it - anyone else out there?

Don’t tell any of the guys, but my hubby Tom is going with me tomorrow to see it. We watched it religiously on Wednesday nights when it was on TBS (even though all the nasty bits were edited out), but I’m not supposed to let the guys know that, either. So if anyone asks, he’s never seen an episode, and that is not him with me in the theater.

marcey: your secret is safe with us. we won’t tell.

I watched the SATC trailers tonight. I hadn’t seen them in months so it was fun to check them out again. Tomorrow night I’ll be at the theatre!

OK, we saw it today. We both cry at movies, and we did a lot of it in the last 75 minutes of the movie. We were asked by our wife (who has never watched the series) if it would have been as good had we not seen the series. We think it would be easy to follow the stories, but the viewer would not have the same compassion for the characters if she did not “know” them as well as TV viewers had.

well, debby? i think we need a “my sex professor” review of the movie.

(my review was “no, i’m not crying!” even though i was.)

Nope. “Sex in the city” is more of the same hollywood fantasy. I found it degrading to women and a really bad example for our teenage girls. However, “The Devil wears Prada” is more my style.
