		<description>Yes - a road bike will be much better for covering larger distances faster and with less (relative) effort. If you don&#039;t go faster you can just use less effort.

The only downsides to a road bike is that the wheels are more fragile (only really matters if you&#039;re riding on really pot-holed roads or poor bike paths) and you will have a more &quot;folded over&quot; sitting position.

You should go to a few local bike shops (not wal-marts or equivalent) and see what the staff have to say. Pick one with friendly staff that don&#039;t mind answering your questions without being condescending, have a few test rides and see what you think. 

Having more than one bike is an option too! My 2BR apartment has 4 bikes (2 for me, 2 for my wife) ;-)
