Teaching children about HIV/AIDS
How young is too young to teach a child about HIV/AIDS? Two parents - who are also film makers - have created a film that highlights having their 4 and 6 year old daughters interview various experts and advocates in the area of HIV/AIDS. They touch on topics like how HIV/AIDS is spread, what a virus is, sexual intercourse, and men having sex with other men. Check out this article about the film, the children and their parents on the New York Times web site.

Yes, and the good touch/bad touch conversations… and how babies are made… and the difference between boys and girls…
All I’ll say on this topic for now is that we often teach kids that “boys have penises and girls have vaginas” - and yet, the comparable part as far as little kids are concerned is not the vagina. It’s the part that they can see from the outside - the vulva! So I would teach “boys have penises, girls have vulvas” or similar. Will it sounds like they are saying “volvo” at first? Sure… and that’s part of the fun.
Enjoy the young years! You are very fortunate to be a dad.
