Google & Apple: Love-Turned-Hate Affair of the Century?

So sayeth (sort of) one of my favorite posts from Gizmodo, ever – and not just because its writer is a good guy.

In addition to it being solid, interesting, entertaining writing with a tale to tell, as you may know, I have a thing for love, hearts, sex and heartache. I also have a thing for love stories including Taylor Swift’s song called Love Story (yes, I know) and the greatest love stories of all time (think Victoria & Albert, Clapton & the renamed “Layla”, and my maternal grandparents, Lillian & John, who were married for 67 years when my grandfather died).

I even, it seems, have a thing for stories of love gone wrong – of tough turns, desperate attempts to make it work or to reconcile, and hanging one’s hat when it’s clear it may never work again.

So I like this article about Google and Apple and think you might want to read it, too.

It reminds me, too, of how I always liked the way that a friend of mine talked about cities as though they were lovers. I remember him saying that some cities you could tell you liked right away and they would be fun to live in for a sort time but were nowhere you would want to settle down and build a life. Others were cities that you liked and thought you might love and -  you might not be sure – but you knew you wanted to stick around, to learn its secrets over time and, yes, to build a life. I don’t know that he’s found his forever city yet, but he’s certainly long found is forever wife.

So… tech stuff, cities, love, sex. It’s all there – you just have to look at it from that perspective. Enjoy.
