What I’m Thankful For
November 27th, 2009 | By Debby
Happy belated Thanksgiving! This year I am thankful for:
- hearts even when they break
- trust even when it bends
- big, broad, happy smiles across a dinner table
- hands that reach out to hold mine
- kisses on my eyelids
- love that tries
- friends that gather
- family that stays
- unusually long hugs
- bright pink and red dresses
- seeing my first book on the shelves of Real, Live Bookstores!
- the dog that defied all odds and stole my heart (and whose head is currently resting on my foot)
- flowers that bloom all the way through November
- spring bulbs that I look forward to nourishing throughout the winter
- new friends who make me laugh and dance in costumes with me
- old friends who take me in
- Darling Design cards that touch my heart
- friends and family who have made new babies
- sticks that will never break my bones
- warmth and heart
- kindness
- doing my best more days than not
- the mysteries of love, romance and attraction that keep me going (and sometimes take me aback)
- questions that beg to be asked
- an open-ness to whatever will be
- things that sparkle and shine
- cousins that remind me of the best things in life
- how the breeze feels against my cheeks and my sides when I run
- the way water envelops my body when I swim
- good health that helps me to breathe deeply and hold on tight to those around me
- lips that kiss me on my forehead
- sidewalk gates that show off their hearts with abandon
